Since 2017

A history of listening before building.

The Innovation Team aims to put the most innovative people in the room — to pilot high-leverage tools or ideas, learn quickly, and inform systemwide decisions that support Ednovate on its neverending pursuit of excellent student outcomes.

What is the Innovation Team?

A standing group built to put the most innovative people in the room — pilot high-leverage tools or ideas, learn quickly, and inform systemwide decisions that support Ednovate's neverending pursuit of excellent student outcomes.

The timeline

How we got here.

Years of listening — to students, families, and teachers — narrowed the network's focus to the problems most worth solving. The 2026 cohort is the first to act on what we learned.

  1. June 2017

Ednovate launched the first Innovation Team to answer big questions and address real needs.

  2. 2017–2020

Surveyed, interviewed, or held focus groups with 300+ students from every Ednovate school.

  3. 2017–2020

Surveyed and interviewed 100+ families, alumni, and community stakeholders through quarterly surveys and parent ambassador groups.

  4. 2017–2020

Listened to instructors about the highest-leverage innovations and the needs they were trying to meet.

  5. By 2020

Narrowed feedback to three problems worth solving: elevating the whole child, providing teachers with timely feedback, and making planning more sustainable.

  6. 2026

Launched the 2026 Innovation Team — the first in six years — to pilot and build on these long-listened-to ideas.
